The potential impact of Generative AI on education is immense, poised to bring about a radical transformation in the way we teach. The advances in technology and especially in conversational and generative AI allow us to challenge the traditional educational paradigm and experiment with a new educational paradigm that shifts the focus from faculty to learners.
The presenters in this session will show concrete use cases of how Generative AI is supporting both teachers and students, while putting forward a critical analysis to evaluate the actual pedagogical gains and the quality of the learning experience augmented by AI.
Inge de Waard
Learning Innovation coordinator, EIT InnoEnergy, Belgium
Inge de Waard is the learning strategist at EIT InnoEnergy, she is a longtime researcher, activist, award-winning learning innovator and (e)Learning coordinator. She developed multiple online & hybrid courses, co-designed AI tools, and embedded learning innovations. Inge coaches and co-creates international, blended curricula with engineers and teachers, and explores innovative learning formats. Her expertise is recognized by peers, resulting in additional co-authored papers, invited talks and keynotes in both academic and professional conferences, workshops and seminars. She recently founded the Flamboyant Grays initiative to spotlight role models who changed their lives at any age beyond 50 (FlamboyantGrays.com). Most of all, she likes to connect with people and share stories.

John Domingue
Professor of Computer Science, The Open University, United Kingdom
John Domingue is a full Professor of Computer Science at the Knowledge Media Institute, the Open University’s technology Research and Innovation centre, and the President of STI International, a semantics focused networking organization. He has published over 280 refereed articles in the areas of semantics, the Web, distributed ledgers and eLearning.
Prof. Domingue served as the leader of the first of five themes, on University Learners, for the £40M Institute of Coding which aimed to increase the number and diversity of computing graduates in the UK as well as enhancing the connection between university teaching and corporate training. In 2017 Prof Domingue’s research in blockchains and education was referenced in the Joint Research Centre Policy Report Blockchain in Education for the European Commission. Prof. Domingue has given many talks on his work including at the Royal Institution in 2018, at TEDx and most recently featured in THE Campus on interdisciplinary research teams.
The start of 2022 saw a new project to develop smart national educational content platform (VocTeach Platform), embedding the latest AI techniques, to support FE educators was initiated with John Domingue serving as the overall project lead.
In 2019, he became a Fellow of the British Blockchain Association. In 2020, he became an honorary Professor at Amity University.

Jerry Wind
Lauder Professor Emeritus and Professor of Marketing, Wharton School, United States of America
Yoram (Jerry) Wind joined Wharton in 1967 with a doctorate from Stanford and since 2017 has
been the Lauder Professor Emeritus and Professor of Marketing. Since then, he’s continued his
active research, publication, lecturing and advising of profit and nonprofit organizations. He
founded the Wharton “Think Tank” – The SEI Center for Advanced Studies in Management and
directed it for three decades. Among his many innovations at Wharton, he led the development
of the Wharton Executive MBA, the Lauder Institute, the new MBA curriculum of 1990, The
Wharton Fellows, Wharton School Publishing, and various research programs including The
Future of Advertising. He has edited top marketing journals and published over 300 articles,
manuscripts and chapters. He authored, co-authored, or edited 30 books and received the four
major marketing awards: Buck Weaver, Parlin, Converse, and AMA/Irwin Distinguished Educator
Award. He was inducted into the inaugural group of AMA Fellows. He was one of the original
Legends in Marketing, with an 8-volume anthology published by Sage in 2014. He has consulted
with over 100 companies and still testifies in intellectual property cases. He is a member of
advisory boards of various companies and nonprofit organizations, including the Lauder Institute
(since he founded it in 1984), American Friends of Reichman University (since its founding in
1995), QS (since 2018), and the Scientific Committee of SKEMA AI School of Business (since its
founding in 2022). He is a trustee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Curtis Institute of Music,
and Grounds for Sculpture. He co-founded Reichman University, the first private, nonprofit
university in Israel, formerly known as The Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya, and the 2021
recipient of their Honorary Doctorate. His current research explores marketing-driven business
strategy, creativity and innovation (developing a course for Coursera for all ages, professions and
countries) and AI for customer engagement (editing a special issue of MBR on that topic). His
recent books include Transformation in Times of Crisis (December 2020), Can Art Resolve
Conflict? (2018), Beyond Advertising: Creating Value Through All Customer Touchpoints (2016)
and The Network Imperative: How to Survive and Grow in the Age of Digital Business Models
(2016). He is a 2017 inductee into the Marketing Hall of Fame, the recipient of the 2023
International Marketing Trends Conference Award (Paris), and the Co-founder of the Reimagine
Education Global Competition and Conference.

Prof Herman calls himself a “recycled Geneticist”, but his previous Vice-Chancellor renamed him “e-Man” to capture his fascination for the use and management of technology in education!
Currently Deputy Dean of the Faculty Economic and Management Sciences, responsible for Teaching and Learning and the CEO of an expert centre called CUTE (Centre for the Utilisation of Technology in Education).
A CoP in innovative teaching and learning with technology (iTLT) support his research initiatives in a creative environment.
In 2015 the University recognised his contribution to innovation with an “Innovation Evangelist” award.

Co-learning To Speed Up AI Implementation in Courses, Inge de Waard
In this talk Inge de Waard will present how co-learning can speed up AI implementation in courses, sharing experiences from EIT InnoEnergy double degree MSc programs and exploring AI use cases within the university network.

How Generative AI Will Transform Higher Education, John Domingue
This presentation is about the use of generative AI in higher education, including AI digital assistants, recommendation engines, career coaches, and assessment support.
By providing real examples, John Domingue will discuss the potential of generative AI for content creation and automatic answering of student questions and the impact of generative AI on accessibility, back-end management, learning experience, advisory support, and estimating study time.

This presentation will focus on the need to challenge the current educational paradigm by utilising AI to revolutionise education and changing the roles of learners and faculty.
Jerry Wind will suggest a new educational paradigm that shifts the focus from faculty to learners, utilising conversational and generative AI, content experts, and mobile platforms. Jerry will propose an approach that is in its early stages of experimentation but is relevant for K-12, higher education, and lifelong education and will inspire the audience to further experiment with the proposed new approach.
